Dr Jason Abbott is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, School of Clinical Medicine, UNSW, Sydney. He is Associate Editor of the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynaecology and Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. His academic output includes >150 publications including textbooks, book chapters and large-scale randomised controlled trials (RCTs) in gynaecological surgery. He is the former Chairman of the Practice Committee of the AAGL (American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists) charged with delivering evidence-based guidelines for surgical gynaecology. He chaired the MBS review committee for benign gynaecology and helped shape Australia’s National Action Plan for Endometriosis.

He is Principal Investigator and Chair for the Australian Government funded National Endometriosis Clinical and Scientific Trials (NECST) network and a member of the Federal Government’s Endometriosis Advisory Group. He Chairs the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) Expert Advisory Group on Endometriosis that published the first Australian Clinical Guideline on Endometriosis.
